GLOBALDOTS Description

GlobalDots is a large player in the web acceleration industry; they’ve been around for more than 10 years and have offices in the US, Europe and Israel. The company refers to itself as an independent cloud and performance optimisation integration partner, and provides cloud hosting, security, DNS, traffic management, web acceleration, streaming and CDN solutions.

GlobalDots is not a content delivery provider, but a reseller. They provide tailored solutions to customer’s IT challenges, which of course can include content delivery solutions. Customers of the GlobalDots CDN service are signed up with one of the company’s CDN partners, which according to their website is a “major CDN provider” at a price level of a lower tier provider.

Since the actual CDN provider can vary depending on the needs of the customer, there is no uniform overview of the features offered by GlobalDots. Supported features will depend entirely on the CDN partners in the GlobalDots portfolio.

The IaaS portfolio of GlobalDots includes Enhanced DNS and Global Traffic Management. As the company does not disclose which providers it is partnered with, it is unknown which provider(s) take care of the service delivery to the client.

Depending on the client’s needs, and under the assumption that GlobalDots partners with a wide variety of service providers, it is likely that different types of DNS, performance data and CDN solutions are available.

Direct customers of GlobalDots are, or have been:

• Lufthansa (currently using Akamai)

• Lamborghini (currently using Level3)

• Bayer AG (currently using Akamai)

• Cupid (currently using Akamai)

While, to our knowledge, GlobalDots does not yet resell a multi-CDN provider, their large offering makes it easy to get multiple CDNs, a DNS and a data solution from one place.

SPACECDN Description

SpaceCDN is the dedicated CDN selling branch of INXY - a Cyprus-based reseller of dedicated servers, storage and CDNs. The company was founded in 2006 and just similar to SpaceCDN, more companies fly under the banner of INXY, such as INXYHOST and SpaceCDN.ru. The CDN offering of SpaceCDN.com and SpaceCDN.ru differs, as the international site offers Leaseweb and the Russian site offers CDNNOW instead.

In total, the CDN partners of INXY and SpaceCDN are EdgeCast, UCDN, Highwinds, Leaseweb and CDNNOW.

Clients can use the CDN price calculator to get an estimate of the possible discount to their CDN costs when buying from SpaceCDN. Both per traffic pricing and per bandwidth pricing is possible.

While SpaceCDN nor INXY (re)sell DNS services or CDN balancing technology, they do sell multiple CDNs. For clients interested in multiple CDNs within a multi-CDN setup, brokers can be a suitable solution to limit the amount of contract partners. Depending on the feature needs of a client prices with SpaceCDN differ per CDN provider in their portfolio.
